Our Future welcomes His Majesty The King to Grimsby

On Thursday 11th June 2026, His Majesty The King visited Grimsby and saw different parts of the positive change underway.

Our Future was honoured to welcome His Majesty The King to Blundell Park, as part of a visit recognising the people, organisations and partnerships working together to build a stronger future for the town.

Across the day, His Majesty saw different parts of the positive change underway. At Horizon Youth Zone, he met young people being backed to look beyond their limits and build confidence in their future. At CARE, he visited a space built around dignity, warmth and practical support for people facing hardship. At Blundell Park, home of Grimsby Town Football Club, he joined an Our Future gathering with people from across Grimsby who are working together around shared ambition for the town.

The Blundell Park gathering was a special moment for the Our Future collective.

It brought together citizens from across the town from every sector who have helped shape the work taking place across Grimsby over recent years.

For Our Future, the day was recognition of something that has been building for a long time: people who care deeply about their town finding each other, building trust across sectors and turning shared ambition into practical action.

Emily Bolton MBE, Chief Executive of Our Future, said:
“Today was a hugely proud moment for Grimsby, and a recognition of the people who have been building this work over several years.

What His Majesty saw was a town full of love, ambition and graft. He met people who care deeply about Grimsby, who are building trust across sectors and who are working together to build something special.

The story of Grimsby is changing because people can see change happening, and today helped shine a light on the people behind that progress.”

Michelle Donner, part of the Our Future collective, said:
“Meeting His Majesty today was a moment I will never forget. When I think about Great Grimsby, I don’t just think about a place on a map. I think about the people, the relationships and the way Great Grimsby comes together when it matters.

Being part of the Our Future collective has helped us see how much strength there is here when people connect and work together. Today felt like recognition of that.”

We are grateful to everyone who helped bring today to life, including CARE, Horizon Youth Zone, Grimsby Town Football Club and the many people across the town who continue to show the love, ambition and graft behind Grimsby’s future.
