What encourages people to get involved in shaping the future of their place?
At Open House 2026 in Grimsby, Katharine York shares her thoughts on why connections, conversations and relationships matter.
Much of what we’ve learnt through Our Future started in Grimsby. By bringing together residents, community organisations and local leaders around a shared ambition, we’ve seen relationships grow, new ideas emerge and people gain the confidence to take action.
It’s a reminder that community led change isn’t just about projects or funding. It’s about creating the relationships, trust and shared purpose that help people shape the future of their place. Those lessons continue to inform our work with communities across the UK.
