Our Future has developed the model and approach in partnership with leaders across Grimsby and NE Lincs. Together we are showing what is possible.
Since 2021, we’ve been developing a joyful new way of working that celebrates shared history and uses that to build a vision and action that is Bold in Hope and Bold in Scope.
The work is well underway – inspired people in every sector are rolling up their sleeves, backing the town they love and building the future today.
We are adding support and infrastructure to make the whole greater than the sum of the parts and provide the backing people need – working together to ensure that Grimsby is a thriving green town that believes in and backs its own people.
In May and June 2024 we worked with partners including Demos to hold a mass conversation across Grimsby about the future people want.
1,100 people engaged voting over 50,000 times and submitting 790 ideas. There was a remarkable level of consensus around the future the town wants.

A thriving arts scene which is led by creative people across the area, celebrating the town's history and future. There will be a vibrant cultural environment that brings people together and builds on the collective identity of Grimsby.
Grimsby has attractive places to spend time that reflect the history of the area (e.g. the old fishing industry) and create engaging and accessible places to spend time, connect, and engage in cultural, economic, and social activities.
Grimsby is a world leader in the green economy and this economy works for the town - reducing energy costs, creating jobs, giving the region economic power and a stake in its own future.
Nature is accessible, including the sea, river, and green spaces. It is threaded through communities and is part of everyday life. People proactively engage with nature and work to build healthy ecosystems for themselves and future generations The connection to nature is an integral part of the town’s green identity.
In ten years, Grimsby will have efficient, affordable transportation options and well-connected communities, making it easy for residents to access the town centre, sea, work, friends and green spaces.
All Grimbarians have safe, secure homes, fostering stable, happy lives and strong community connections.
There is a welcoming, supportive culture and strong communities that keep an eye out for each other, in good times and in bad. Communities have power and participate in building the neighbourhoods they want and are supported to do so. Social connections bring joy and positivity into the way that people live.
It is a town where there are opportunities for everyone. People of every age to learn new skills so that they can take advantage of the green economy and improve their lives. These have been designed to work for people’s lives so that it sits alongside work, family and other responsibilities.

Working with partners in the East Marsh to develop a community led plan that everyone can back. We are working alongside East Marsh United, Hodson Architects, NE Lincs Council, Health Partners, Together for Childhood and many more to bring this to life. The work is underway and will move to delivery of the plan later this year with clear ways all of us can get involved in delivery We are talking with other wards across NE Lincs who are interested in a adopting this approach.
There are many groups already running community led housing in NE Lincs We are scoping the potential for this to grow and understanding the support people need.
Exploring with industry leaders and community partners how the green economy can deliver opportunities and benefits for the town over the long term.

At the end of this year we will be starting to work in other towns and we are inspired by the brilliant people across our country who are already building the future in the hometowns they love.
